Message from the Principal
Dear Family,
Our preparations for the Spring Arts Night and other arts events are showing some amazing talent and dedication! Our Physical Education and Daily Physical Education programs have done the same. Our regular classroom HUM made up of enthusiastic learners and collaborative teamwork is exciting and inspiring to see in action. Our Monthly Recognition Assemblies and original slideshows, initiatives, bulletin boards, lessons, skits, computer lab, library, Me to We endeavours, committees, special programs and other clubs and teams, fundraisers, field trips, intramurals and the regular every day positive spirit at Lucknow Central always make LCPS a flutter of exciting activity and learning!
It would be so easy to wait for those picture perfect moments to be amazed by our students...there are so many of them. In reality, they are stars every day! The journey to the picture perfect moment can be even more rewarding than the end product, presentation, and glimmer of glory. We need to take the time to enjoy the process and those tiny moments that happen each day with our students while they take each step towards learning a new skill, adapting a more mature attitude or acquiring new knowledge. How exciting it is when our students tell us how they have connected some of their learning from one subject and applied it to another; or when our students are out in the real world and reach out to share a connection regarding something they have experienced at school!
When the tasks to do become overwhelming and actually getting to check off the jobs seems more difficult each day; whenever the number of students I see in a day for a rough moment or choice outnumbers the number of students that I see for stellar accomplishments and demonstrating positive citizenship, and whenever I begin to wonder how I can possibly make progress on a new venture, it is indeed time to reflect on the priceless deposits into our emotional bank accounts that our students give to all of us on a daily basis. Students always brighten our days! Our students are gifts and what a privilege it is for our school community to work and learn with them every day!
I have a framed picture in my office that I enjoy reading and pondering each day, but especially on those frenetic and difficult days. Our students truly are:
Amazing, acknowledge them.
Believable, trust them.
Childlike, allow them.
Divine, honour them.
Energetic, nourish them.
Fallible, embrace them.
Gifts, treasure them.
Here now, be with them.
Innocent, delight with them.
Joyful, appreciate them.
Kindhearted, learn from them.
Loveable, cherish them.
Magical, fly with them.
Noble, esteem them.
Open-minded, respect them.
Precious, value them.
Questioners, encourage them.
Resourceful, support them.
Spontaneous, enjoy them.
Talented, believe in them.
Unique, affirm them.
Vulnerable, protect them.
Whole, recognize them.
eXtra special, celebrate them.
Yearning, notice them.
Zany, laugh with them.
Reflecting on this, let's relax, breathe deeply and know that all the weariness, worries, so-called crisis and disagreements are indeed so very small in comparison to the value that our students at LCPS share so willingly with all of us. They teach us and give to us every day. Without them, where would all of us be and how dreary the days would be.
